As much as I love food, I’m not much of a breakfast person. Some say it’s the most important meal of the day, but my stomach takes a while before it wakes up. So usually, I’ll have a yogurt or a banana. If I make time then I’ll have a bowl of cereal. Sometimes it ends up just being a couple slices of sandwich meat (of course, this changes on the weekends and breakfast for dinner is a whole other issue).
Enter breakfast smoothies! I had been thinking of the idea for a while and there are plenty of sites that offer recipes (too many of them say to add sugar). If you do want to sweeten, I recommend using honey but the natural sugar in the fruit should be enough. Some recipes say to add whey, or açaí or other supplements, but for now I’m following the simple recipe of:
- 1 cup frozen fruit
- 1/2 pot of Chobani fruit yogurt, any flavor will do
- Milk (plan to try soy soon), enough to make smoothie liquidy
- 1 banana*
Place all ingredients in blender and puree until smooth.
*Well, usually I add a banana, but I ran out.
