Philadelphia Flower Show 2012 Preview

On Friday, March 2, I had the opportunity to take part in a preview tour of the 2012 Philadelphia International Flower. If you haven’t decided whether you plan on going yet, then you should just buy your tickets now. All revenue from the Flower Show will go toward the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society‘s projects Plant One Million and City Harvest.

Yesterday, March 4, was the official start of the Flower Show. Even though I have lived in Philly since 2007, this is the first year that I have been to the flower show. And a little getaway to Hawai’i is the perfect way to start.

It was interesting to have a behind-the-scenes look at the set-up process and while most of the major exhibits were near completion, there was still a lot of work to be done. But, I do look forward to seeing the exhibits in their full forms this week.

If you’re still undecided, here are a few things that you can look forward to this week:

LGBT Night (March 5), sponsored by G Philly, will feature an evening of cocktails, food samplings, and a meet-and-greet with Phillip Watson, QVC Host and author of Pleasure Gardens.

Wedding Wednesday (March 6), sponsored by Philadelphia Wedding Magazine, is especially for all brides-to-be. You will have the chance to get advice (and some great takeaways) for all things relating to your wedding from local fashion, music, catering, the honeymoon, and photography experts. You’ll be able to sample champagne and food. And, I’ve been told that a real wedding will also be taking place, with the Flower Show as the back drop.

Girls Night Out (March 7), a special night just for the ladies will feature exclusive food & wine pairings, health and beauty samplings and tutorials, shopping, raffles, and more.

If those special events haven’t enticed you yet, here are some photos of what you can expect. Enjoy!
