I absolutely love gardening! I never thought these words would come out of my mouth when I was growing up. Last year was the first time I planted my own garden, and it was such a success that I know I’ll always have one.
Flower Bed Setup
Happily, my peppermint, spearmint, lavender, oregano, and chives all survived this past winter and are absolutely thriving. I made some new additions to this year’s crop: green bell peppers, yellow and orange marigolds, thyme, Mexican culantro, Gerberas, sweet basil, and sunrise rose.
I’ve already harvested my first three peppers, and have had to cut back my mint plants multiple times, as they want to just take over everything. My favorites are definitely the sunrise rose (because it blooms in multicolors) and the Mexican culantro. It’s a wonderful alternative to cilantro (has the same smell and taste, but is much stronger), which is too sensitive for these East coast hot and humid summers.
